It’s A Monster, All Right

Fervent reader Dave H. sends in a comment about Monster.com’s daily search e-mails:

I have a job that is stable (in this economy, I’m thankful)….but someone within Monster is toying with those unfortunate souls that happen to be looking for a new challenge in the field with this type of email content…

Is it not as simple as ‘if no job title and no job location exists, don’t include it in the email content that gets sliced, snafed and emailed out every day?’

His e-mail looks like this:

Now, I tried to recreate this, but I couldn’t, probably because I don’t have enough clearance to see the classified jobs listed.  However, I did note a couple of things of note on Monster.com.

For starters, the AJAX layer for saving a search does not account for small IE windows:

I hopt no required fields or controls are at the bottom of this dialog.

Secondly, if you do save successfully, the success message lacks a period:

Think how much money they saved by not putting in the second period!

Finally, the page after the AJAX success message has a JavaScript error:

A Web site just isn't a Web site without the tangy, rich taste of JavaScript errors!

All righty then.  It’s three defects right there on the happy path, not including the outlying case that Dave found.  Class, is this what you would call a quality piece of software?
